Account Deletion Policy

How to delete your Statement Insights account and its data, what is removed, what the law requires us to keep, and how long it takes.

Last updated 22 October 2026

Delete your account

Sign in with the Google account you want to delete, then delete it here in a few taps — or email us.

Request by email

1. Who this applies to

An account exists only if you signed in with Google. If you use Statement Insights without signing in, nothing about you is stored on our servers — your settings live only on your phone, and you can remove them by clearing the app's data on this device (side menu → Privacy policy & device data) or uninstalling the app.

Your bank, credit card and loan statements are never uploaded to us, so they are never part of an account and there is nothing of them on our side to delete.

2. Delete your account in the app

Open the app and sign in with the Google account you want to delete. Open the side menu (☰) and tap “Delete account” near the bottom, or use the “Delete my account” button at the top of this page.

Review what will be removed, tap Continue, type DELETE and tap “Delete my account forever”. You can also choose to clear the settings saved on that phone at the same time. Deletion happens immediately and you are signed out.

3. Request deletion by email

If you can no longer open the app, email statementinsights@gmail.com from the Google address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my account”. To protect you, we only act on requests sent from that address and may ask you to confirm. We never ask for passwords, PINs or OTPs.

We confirm receipt within 48 hours and complete deletion within 7 days, and always within the 30 days allowed by law.

4. What is deleted

Your sign-in account and profile (name, email address and profile photo received from Google); your synced preferences (category budgets, budget reset/rollover choices and recurring-payment edits); your sign-in and app-open history (time, device type and country); and any Pro status or roles linked to your account.

Removed data cannot be recovered. Copies in our provider's encrypted backups expire automatically within 30 days and are never restored into the live app.

5. What we keep and why

If you bought Pro, the payment record — amount, currency, date, status and the Razorpay order and payment IDs — is kept for up to 8 years because Indian tax and accounting laws (including the Income-tax Act, 1961 and GST rules) require it, and to handle disputes or fraud checks. After deletion it is no longer linked to your name, email or profile.

Razorpay and Google keep their own records under their own policies; contact them to delete data they hold.

6. What happens next

Deleting your account ends Pro access straight away. Under our Refund Policy, payments are not refunded because of account deletion, except where the law requires it.

Your other devices stop syncing and are signed out the next time they connect, but settings already saved on those phones stay there until you clear them. You can keep using the app without an account, or sign in again later to start a fresh, empty account.

7. Your rights

This process supports your right to erasure under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and similar laws, and meets Google Play's account-deletion requirements. You can also ask us what data we hold about you before deleting it.

Questions or complaints: write to statementinsights@gmail.com. We acknowledge within 48 hours and aim to resolve within 15 days.
