Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Statement Insights — the website, the installable web app and the apps distributed through Google Play and the Microsoft Store (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Disclaimer and Cookie & Storage Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.

2. What the Service does

Statement Insights reads bank, credit card and loan statements you choose to open (PDF, Excel, CSV or screenshots) and shows summaries, categories, charts, budgets, recurring payments and similar insights.

All reading and analysis happens on your own device. Your statements are not uploaded to us, are not stored by us and are not read by any artificial intelligence. Categories come from keyword rules and your own choices.

3. Optional account

You can use the Service without an account. If you sign in with Google, only your preferences (such as budgets, budget modes and recurring-payment edits) are saved so they can sync between your devices. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google account and device secure.

You can stop syncing at any time by signing out, and delete your account and its synced data at any time from the side menu (Delete account) or by writing to statementinsights@gmail.com. See our Account Deletion Policy for details.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal or internal business purposes and only with statements you are entitled to view.

You must not: reverse engineer, copy or resell the Service except as permitted by law; attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to it or its systems; use it to process data belonging to others without their permission; or use it in breach of any applicable law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000.

5. Accuracy and no financial advice

Bank formats vary and automated reading can make mistakes. Always check dates, amounts and categories against your original statement. Figures such as net cash flow, forecasts, safe-to-spend and net worth are estimates, not account balances.

The Service is an information tool. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or credit advice, and we are not a bank, financial adviser or registered intermediary. See our Disclaimer for details.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, logo, name and code belong to Statement Insights and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service under these Terms. Your statements and data remain yours.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as Google (sign-in), app stores, hosting providers and open-source libraries (for example to read PDFs and screenshots). Their own terms and policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their availability or conduct.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available offline in every situation. We may add, change or remove features, or suspend the Service, at any time.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Statement Insights will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of money, data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000, whichever is lower. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Statement Insights against claims, losses and expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling it and clearing its data (Privacy policy → Data saved on this device → Clear all). We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting any formal dispute, please write to statementinsights@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it informally within 30 days. Subject to that, the courts at Bengaluru, India have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version and its date are always on this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
